THE DARK KNIGHT RISES TEASER POSTER REVEALED
The official TDKR site has unveiled the first poster for the upcoming trilogy closer (and Christopher Nolan’s final Bat-film). Nolan sure does like his skyscrapers. If you weren’t excited before, you should be now.
The first trailer for the blockbuster is expected to appear before the latest & last Harry Potter film. The film rolls into theatres on the 20th of July 2012, and starring franchise regulars Christian Bale, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, as well as Tom Hardy (as Bane), Anne Hathaway (Catwoman), Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Marion Cotillard.
THE AVENGERS TEASER POSTER UNVEILED
In the battle of the posters, I think this one just edges out the Spidey one from earlier. This teaser for the second biggest superhero flick of 2012 (Dark Knigh Rises wins out for this writer) is a slick and shiny affair, giving little away in terms of plot. Regardless, it will be intriguing how well cramming Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and Captain America in one film will work.
NEW POSTER FOR THE MUPPETS
The idea of Muppets having legs still sorta freaks me out, but this latest big screen version seems like too much fun. Who’s looking forward to it? Who’ll be avoiding it like the plague?
The Muppets stars Jason Segel (Forgetting Sarah Marshall) and Amy Adams (The Fighter) and will be released in the UK on February 17th 2012
TWILIGHT: BREAKING DAWN - PART ONE POSTER
I have no idea why I’m posting this. I’ve never subjected myself to any of the Twilight “saga” and don’t plan on seeing these final two instalments (unless they actually decide to keep the insane ending), but here you go. The Photoshopped-within-inches-of-its-life poster for the penultimate film in the hugely-derided series.
FIRST AMERICAN REUNION POSTER REVEALED
Whether you think another American Pie sequel is a good thing or a sign of the coming apocalypse, it’s happening regardless, although the tagline seems to suggest it’s the last one. Bringing back the original cast after god-knows how many godawful straight-to-DVD sequels, American Reunion sees the old gang attending their high-school reunion (as you may have guessed from the title). Don’t expect The Godfather going into this one…
American Reunion is released April 6th 2012.
NEW TINKER TAILOR SOLDER SPY POSTER UNVEILED
I don’t there’s a film being released this year that we here at Hitsville are more excited about than Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (maybe Drive). With a cast including Gary Oldman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Tom Hardy, John Hurt, Toby Jones, Tom Hardy and Colin Firth amongst others, there’s little chance of TTSS being anything less than great.
Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy is released on September 16th.
/// MAN ON A LEDGE POSTER
We’ve had Man On Fire and Man On A Wire, now we’ve got Man On A Ledge, and its first vertigo-inducing poster. Starring Sam Worthington (Terminator: Salvation, Avatar), the film revolves around the titular Man (Worthington) standing on the titular Ledge, threatening suicide. Turns out this is all a distraction so his brother can go rob a jewellery store. Note to self: never trust men on ledges. The supporting cast looks pretty solid, including Elizabeth Banks as the officer tasked with talking Worthington down and Jamie Bell as the jewellery robbing brother.
Man On A Ledge is released January 13th 2012.
/// NEW MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE - GHOST PROTOCOL POSTER REVEALED
No matter what you think of the M:I franchise or the little ball of crazy that is Tom Cruise, this is one hell of a poster. Not sure if safety goggles are really all that helpful for climbing a building though.
Starring Cruise, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg and Jeremy Renner, Ghost Protocol is set for release on December 16th and marks the live action directing debut of Brad Bird, the man behind animated classics The Incredibles, Ratatouille and The Iron Giant.
/// NEW POSTERS FOR THE MUPPETS
Another poster for you lot, this time it’s the decidely un-action-y The Muppets. In their first big feature film since 1996’s Muppet Treasure Island, Kermit & co must raise $10 million in order to stop the Muppet Theatre being pulled down. The film stars Jason Segel, Amy Adams and Chris Cooper and is released November 23rd in the US, whilst us Brits have to wait ‘til February 10th for our fill of puppetry.
